Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer Spectrometers

Water-based Wide-range Ambient Monitoring Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS) 3938W89

Model Number: 3938W89

Continuously monitor ultrafine particles (UFPs) in the atmosphere with this particle sizing system that features a water-based Condensation Particle Counter (CPC). This component-based wide-range Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS™) spectrometer measures UFP size distributions across a wide range (10 – 800 nm in a single scan), and uses readily-available distilled water in its particle detection technique. The data provided by this particle sizing system can be easily integrated into existing monitoring networks. Together with the sampling system and an optional stand-alone CPC, air quality monitoring stations have access to a complete solution to monitor UFPs.

Product Details

Since the late 1990’s the TSI Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS™) series serves aerosol research with particle measurements covering nucleation, Aitken and accumulation modes (from 1 nm to 1 µm). Soon the SMPS™ moved out of the academic laboratories and was established in atmospheric monitoring stations of research centers, Environmental Protection Agencies (EPAs) and the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) program.

The new updates included in the model 3938W89 for ambient air monitoring extend the size range of the SMPS™ to cover 10 nm to 800 nm in one single scan with the Differential Mobility Analyzer (DMA) 3083. We also modernized the matching sampling system to provide a one-stop solution for air quality monitoring. The updated optional software provides features of particular value for atmospheric monitoring: particle loss correction of the sampling system, extended auto-export of data, and power-outage recovery mode.

New to monitoring of ultrafine particles? TSI provides education and support from the basics to the installation.
