Insights into a Nascent Regulatory Framework for Biofluorescent Particle Counting: From Validation to Calibration and Back Again

Biofluorescent Particle Counting (BFPC) is a non-growth-based microbiological method that is now being used in GMP manufacturing and is poised to revolutionize Grade A EM. This presentation will provide insights into the potential future of BFPC implementation requirements synthesized from a constellation of experiences including GMP adoption and participation in BFPC guidance development. The speaker will outline the “BFPC life-cycle” relating processes from instrument design to validation and periodic calibration. The presentation will detail which BFPC systems require validation and which systems require calibration. These fundamentals will inform potential BFPC users on the likely expectations for BFPC implementation.
