Respirators protect workers from breathable hazards in the workplace. Fit testing evaluates the seal between a respirator and the face, identifying gaps or leaks that put workers at risk. Fit test results confirm if a mask will provide the right level of on-the-job protection needed.
Quantitative fit testing gives users an objective and numeric measurement of respirator fit. These results allow safety professionals to make the best-informed decisions to protect their teams. In the U.S., regulatory groups such as OSHA and NFPA now require quantitative fit testing for many respirators. In the UK, fit testing with the PortaCount® Respirator Fit Tester is the only method that is HSE compliant for all respirators, including FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 disposable respirators.

OSHA's New Modified CNC Protocols
The respirator fit testing process is now faster and more streamlined. The modified CNC protocols enable fewer, shorter fit test exercises. Instead of eight exercises, the new rules require four. Total fit test time is reduced from 7:15 minutes to 2:29.
