Aerosol Research Webinars

Series of webinars that explore the specialized field of aerosol science

Aerosol Education Webinars

Topics in aerosols, particles, and nanoparticles

TSI Incorporated hosts a series of webinars in order to share knowledge in the specialized field of aerosol science, as well as to bring together individuals with similar interests across the globe. The webinars are given by a variety of US and European technical experts who are specialized in the specific subject matter.

All webinars are free to attend. Each live webinar is followed by an open Q&A session. To receive more information about our webinars, simply complete the form at the bottom of this page.

Recorded webinars

Webinar Description

Agglomeration, Isolation, and Dissolution of Engineered Nanoparticles: Insights from Particle-Sizing Measurements

Preparing engineered nanoparticles for aerosol-phase analysis can be challenging. In this webinar, nanoparticle preparation methods are discussed, as are the insights into nanoparticle behavior that are made possible by aerosol sizing instruments.

Engine Emissions

Webinar Description

Improvements to the 3090 Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer

This webinar focuses on the new EEPS matrix developed by Dr. Xiaoliang Wang of DRI, in conjunction with TSI. Presenters will explain how the new SOOT and COMPACT inversion matrices were created, how the new matrices compare to SMPS data, and when to use each of the available inversion matrices.

Inversion Matrices and Application Results from the 3090 EEPS

This webinar focuses on application results from the 3090 EEPS. Emissions from heavy-duty and light-duty diesel engines, as well as from a GDI vehicle, are explored. Mass results from EEPS are compared to filter measurements and a competitive technique, and number results are compared to a PMP method.

Environmental Monitoring

Webinar  Description

Assessment of Potential Occupational Exposure to Nanoparticles

This webinar reviews studies that have investigated occupation exposure to nanoparticles during industrial nanoparticle synthesis processes. The guest speaker is Drew Thompson.

Toxicological Evidence that Inhalation of Nanoparticles in Urban Air Pollution is Associated with Cognitive Impairment

While the  negative health effects of air pollution are generally accepted, the effect of nanoparticles in urban air on human health is less widely known. This webinar discusses evidence that nanoparticle inhalation in urban environments has implications for brain function. The guest speaker is Dr. David A. Davis.

Nanoparticle Emission Assessment Techniques

This webinar discusses various technologies that can be used to measure emissions of nanoparticles from various sources.

Indoor Exposure to Ultrafine Particles: Sources and Measurements

We spend most of our time indoors, so ultrafine particle sources indoors are an important area of study. This webinar discusses several ultrafine particle sources in the indoor environment, and discusses removal strategies. The guest speaker is Dr. Lance Wallace.

Webinar Description

Your Next Solution for Filter Testing

The Automated Filter Tester Model 8130A continues to be the best solution for testing particulate respirator filters, disposable filtering face pieces, and a wide assortment of filter media.

Generating & Conditioning

Webinar Description

Introduction to the Electrospray Aerosol Generator 3482

Electrospray aerosol generation is a valuable technique. This webinar introduces TSI's most advanced electrospray aerosol generator, including applications and sample preparation guidelines.

Aerosol Sampling and Transport

With aerosol sampling, getting a representative aerosol sample to the instrument's inlet can sometimes be "half the battle." This webinar covers problems and best practices concerning aerosol sampling and transport.

Electrospray Aerosol Generator Model 3480

This webinar introduces TSI's classic electrospray aerosol generator, Model 3480. The webinar includes guidance on sample preparation and instrument maintenance.

Particle Sizing

Webinar Description

1nm CPC/SMPS: Take Your Measurements to the Limit of Detection

Bridging the gap between traditional SMPS measurements and data provided from more chemistry-centric techniques that analyze molecular clusters, the 1 nm SMPS is a valuable tool for those researchers who want to investigate the smallest particles. This webinar discusses the history of the technology to measure such small particles, introduces the 1 nm SMPS instrument from TSI, and discusses applications for the technique.

Fast Scanning and Standalone Operation: TSI's Next Generation SMPS

One of the most valuable instruments in aerosol science is the SMPS: Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer. This webinar introduces TSI's current generation of Electrostatic Classifier (a key SMPS component), Model 3082.
