The Importance of Attaining Building Certifications

Sustainability and the wellness of occupants inside should always be top of mind for those in the commercial building space. Studies have shown that tenants are willing to pay a premium for green building features keeping your building energy efficient and comfortable for occupants. Both healthy building and green building certifications are a great way for building owners and occupants gain confidence in the environment they are in, while showcasing that the building they occupy is endorsed by those that care most.

What is the WELL Building Standard?

The WELL Building Standard® is made up of seven factors measuring the features of buildings that impact the health of occupants. These features are air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. In order to achieve WELL Certification, the building has to go through a process that includes a series on on-site assessments and performance tests through a third party.

Recent updates point to the WELL Building Standard™ version 2 (WELL v2™), which is a vehicle for buildings and organizations to deliver more thoughtful and intentional spaces that enhance human health and well-being. WELL v2 includes a set of strategies backed by the latest scientific research that aim to advance human health through design interventions and operational protocols and policies and foster a culture of health and well-being. What is the LEED Certification?

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a green building certification program, is a performance-measurement tool that focuses on how buildings use their energy. LEED Certification is the most widely used global standard that recognizes buildings for efficiency, cost effectiveness, and overall a better environment for people and the planet.
