Brake Wear Measurements Research - From the Researcher’s Point of View

May 24 2022 Choose Your Session! Online

TSI empowers brake wear emissions researchers via instrumentation, application experience, and industry knowledge.Brake wear emissions have been the subject of academic and industrial research in recent years. While a test protocol has been established for light duty vehicles by the Particle Measurement Program (PMP) group, plenty of activity remains in the research sphere.

New brake pad formulations, fluid flow around brake mounts, and emissions by other vehicle types (e.g. trains) are all ongoing areas of inquiry. TSI empowers brake wear emissions researchers via instrumentation, application experience, and industry knowledge.

This webinar will cover:

  • Overview of current research studies
  • Challenges of brake wear measurements
  • Measurement methodology and tools

Meet the Speakers

Andrea Tiwari is going to present in this TSI webinar about brake wear emissions.Dr. Andrea J. Tiwari is an aerosol engineer with over 10 years of experience. She earned her Ph.D. at Virginia Tech, where she studied with Dr. Linsey Marr, who is a leading researcher on both the effects of engineered nanoparticles on the environment, and the study of airborne viruses. Dr. Tiwari’s dissertation research focused on the generation and chemical reactions of aerosolized carbon-based nanoparticles. She has published her scientific research in several journals. As an Applications Engineer at TSI Incorporated, she regularly works with customers in universities, government, and industries from around the globe to help Carsten Kykal is going to present in this TSI webinar about brake wear emissions.them solve their aerosol-related challenges.

Dr. Carsten Kykal studied atmospheric physics and received his PhD at TU Munich combining particle instruments and homemade fluid mechanics solutions to characterize aerosols of same size on their optical properties. In 2008, he joined TSI as an application engineer and moved into a sales role a few years later still supporting aerosol and fluid mechanics researchers in EMEA.

Stéphane Furusho-Percot is going to present in this TSI webinar about brake wear emissions.Dr. Stéphane Furusho-Percot has more than 13 years of experience in particle measurements and holds a PhD in this domain from Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France). He has been with TSI for 6 years as Research and Analytic Sales Specialist and has been involved as a member of the European Particle Measurement Program (PMP) informal working group / brake emissions task force 2 with the goal to provide minimum specifications for measuring and characterizing brake emissions.
