Quality control with LIBS materials identification

Among our instruments at #Control19 will be laser induced breakdown spectroscopy—or LIBS—tools. LIBS is a spectroscopic technique that uses laser-generated plasma to ablate and excite a sample, usually in solid form. Emissions generated from the plasma can be used to identify, sort, and classify materials. An algorithm turns the resulting spectra into qualitative results (e.g. positive material identification or PMI) and quantitative results (e.g. the concentration of a particular element in the sample.)

TSI LIBS products are a radiation-free method to verify incoming materials and perform positive material identification.
