The new Laboratory Room Controller: 5+ ways to make HVAC lab control easier

The new Laboratory Room Controller (LRC) is part of a variable air volume (VAV) lab HVAC control system.

The new Laboratory Room Controller: 5+ ways to make HVAC lab control easierMeeting specs from engineers just got a little easier with the new Laboratory Room Controller. TSI’s Ryan Thompson put together this list showing more than 5 ways the new LRC helps with lab controls.

How the new LRC simplifies even the biggest jobs:

  • Handle large jobs and multiple zones. The new LRC supports individual supply and general exhaust control, great for big jobs with multiple zones. For example, large labs with perimeter loads can easily zone to accommodate temperature demands between the exterior and interior parts of the lab.

  • Attached office space? Control up to three offices to a lab with an LRC. Each zone can have its own flow setpoints and thermostat to maximize the comfort of lab occupants.

  • Optimize occupant comfort with ASHRAE 90.1 compliant dual-maximum temperature control. This mixes the room air while heating, helping ensure equal temperature anywhere in the lab.

  • Speed up your start-up with these new capabilities:
    • Custom Diagnostics Page enables you to see all measurements, setpoints and outputs in the lab in real-time on a single screen. Perfect for troubleshooting system and wiring issues that may occur during start-up.
    • Balancer Page allows you to override a flow control setpoint and easily adjust the flow calibration k-factor.

  • Room pressure differential measurements. When used with optional TSI through-the-wall sensor technology, the LRC also measures room pressure differential. This allows the LRC to alarm or even correct for changing building dynamics.

The TSI Laboratory Room Controller (LRC) is part of a variable air volume (VAV) lab HVAC control system. VAV instruments measure critical parameters to better control safety, energy, and costs. Save even more costs by accessorizing with a TSI Thermal Flow Station to reduce pressure drop in the HVAC system. Learn more.
