ICRACEM 2020 is the 1st International Conference on Recent Advances in Computational and Experimental Mechanics.

Senior Regional Applications Manager Dr. Deepak SharmaSenior Regional Applications Manager Dr. Deepak Sharma will deliver a keynote lecture at ICRACEM 2020, the first International Conference on Recent Advances in Computational and Experimental Mechanics. This 3-day event will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India. Topics covered during the conference include:

  • Advanced mechanics of materials
  • Experimental mechanics
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Interdisciplinary mechanics
  • Solid mechanics
  • Vibration and control

Dr. Sharma's presentation on 6 September

Dr. Sharma's lecture, "Overview on Various Experimental Tools for Virus/Aerosol Research and Advances in Volumetric Velocimetry," focuses on fluid mechanics and aerosol science. Dr. Sharma will present his talk on 6 September, from 11:00 to 11:45.

Abstract

The abstract for Dr. Sharma's lecture is as follows:

Current pandemic situations have created alarming global awareness, resulting in significant escalation to maximize the efforts, in tracking the existence, quantifying the presence, analyzing the effects by using various control and safety measures, and to get protected from variety of hazardous virus / aerosols including COVID-19. Size, number concentration, and flow dynamics of this particulate matter are measured using various experimental tools including particle sizers, particle counters, and flow visualization and quantification methods like 2D-PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). Further advances in Volumetric-PIV (3D-PIV) technique is introduced so that attempts can be accelerated & explored by the scientific / research community to gauge the dynamic behavior of these virus / aerosols using these tools.
