Maximise mask protection
Quantitative Fit Testing is the most secure way for mask fit testing
Respirator fit testing is a key component of any respiratory protection programme, protecting staff from airborne hazards. Businesses with workers wearing respirators are required by HSE INDG 479 to perform respirator fit testing.
For fit test administrators disposable filtering facepiece respiraors are notoriously difficult to fit to staff. There are two basic types of fit tests: Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT) and Qualitative Fit Testing (QLFT).
Qualitative Fit Testing (QLFT) is a low cost, subjective pass/fail test that exposes the respirator wearer to a chemical stimulant (while donning a test hood) that can only be detected if the respirator leaks. There are multiple challenges for QLFT, including operator error, operator fatigue, subjective results and recordkeeping challenges.
Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT) measures the challenge agent leakage into the respirator without dependence on a test subject’s voluntary or involuntary response to the challenge agent. The instrumentation is typically capable of measuring fit factors of 10,000 and higher.
Quantitative Fit Testing is the most secure way for mask fit testing and to minimise contamination risks to workers wearing masks. Fit testing with the PortaCount™ Respirator Fit Tester is the only method which is HSE compliant for all respirators including FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 disposable respirators and eliminates the guesswork associated with Qualitative Fit Test methods such as Saccharin and Bitrex® by attending a better measure of a respirator's fit.
The PortaCount™ fit testing machine is the only instrument on the market that works for all mask types and brands. Fit test any respirator including disposable respirators (series 100/99/95/P1/P2/P3 masks), and test them to any standard or regulatory level.
The PortaCount™ Respirator Fit Tester measures the fit of a respirator in real-time during actual movement, breathing and talking. The instrument uses real time measurements to get you to the right fit faster and better train staff how to properly wear their masks so they protect and helps you quickly disqualify poorly fitting masks so you find a great fit, saving you time and make you more productive. Choose the most trusted and HSE compliant fit test instrument to increase your staff's safety, and improve your programme's efficiency and productivity.
