Shoreview, MN—TSI Manufacturing Engineer Justin Eayrs is presenting a technical paper at the Aerospace Sciences Meeting of the 2018 AIAA SciTech Forum in Kissimmee, Florida. The paper is included in the Fluid Dynamics research section of the meeting.
Eayrs and other team members Bryan Tierney and David J. Forliti will present the paper, "Dynamics of Globally Unstable Helium Jets using Round and Elliptical Nozzles," at 11:00 a.m. on January 8, 2018. The presentation is one of four technical sessions on Shear Flows.
While a student at the University of St. Thomas, Eayrs researched and co-authored a technical paper with his professor, David J. Forliti. Together they investigated the characteristics of instabilities in low-density round and elliptical jets. The team used a TSI thermal anemometer as well as other instruments for critical research measurements.
Eayrs recently graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While in school, he was the Project Leader of a senior design team working with 3M's Automotive Aftermarket Division.
From the AIAA website, "With more than 30,000 individual members from 88 countries, and 95 corporate members, AIAA is the world's largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. Created in 1963 by the merger of the two great aerospace societies of the day, the American Rocket Society (founded in 1930 as the American Interplanetary Society), and the Institute of the Aerospace Sciences (established in 1933 as the Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences), AIAA carries forth a proud tradition of more than 80 years of aerospace leadership."
