The Fast Screening Anderson (FSA) Impactor is an AIM-modified version of the standard Andersen Cascade Impactor (ACI), designed to streamline the process of aerodynamic particle size distribution (APSD) testing. This advanced tool is essential for both quality control and product development in the pharmaceutical industry.
Applications
The FSA is suitable for both Quality Control (QC) and High-Resolution Testing (HRT), ensuring product consistency and compliance.
- Quality Control (FSA-QC): Ensures product consistency and compliance by using stages 0 (or -1, or -2A) and F in conjunction with a Stage X, closely matching the Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter (MMAD) of the aerosol.
- Product Development (FSA-HRT): Provides detailed analysis with stages available at 5.0 and 1.0 μm for MDI applications at 28.3 L/min, and traditional ACI cut-points of 4.7 and 1.1 μm for DPI applications at higher flow rates (60 and 90 L/min).
Features and Benefits
- Time-Saving: Reduces the complexity and duration of APSD testing, making it more efficient.
- Cost-Effective: Minimizes the need for extensive chemical analysis, saving resources.
- Reliable Results: Delivers accurate and reproducible data, ensuring product quality and safety
- Efficient Data Analysis (EDA): Simplifies the testing process by focusing on critical metrics, reducing time and effort.
- Customizable Stages: Offers stages with cut-off diameters tailored for various applications, including MDIs and DPIs, enhancing testing flexibility.
To complete a fully functional test setup for determining the CPM, FPM, EPM or LPM/SPM ratio, the Vacuum Pump, Critical Flow Controller, Flow Rate Sensor, and Mouthpiece Adapter are required in addition to the FSA.
