Explore Hands-On Lab Sessions

Engage firsthand with TSI's particle and aerosol instruments for practical learning during the short course.

Lab A - Aerosol Conditioning & Sampling

In this lab session, we will experiment with several actions and best practices pertaining to preparing aerosol particles for measurement (conditioning), and pertaining to drawing the aerosol particles from their native location into a measurement instrument (sampling). Best practices in this space are vital to the collection of accurate, actionable data.

Lab B - Monitoring Submicrometer Particles

In this lab session we will focus on instrumentation that can be used to measure submicrometer particles that may be transient (quickly changing) in nature, or may need to be measured in a mobile fashion.

Lab C - Supermicrometer Particles

This lab will demonstrate two instruments that can generate aerosols larger than a micron, as well as several instruments appropriate for sizing such aerosols. Appropriate applications for each of these instruments will be discussed.

Lab D - Filtration

In filter testing there are quite a few choices to make: aerosol composition, aerosol size, detector design, flow rate, etc. We will show – and use – several automated filter testers that are suitable for key applications. While doing so we will describe how the above-listed choices are relevant to various applications, and are thus included in (or made possible by) the automated testers.
