Don't miss Francisco Romay from the University of Minnesoty, presenting about:
“Performance Evaluation of Low-Cost Condensation Particle Counters for Ultrafine PM Monitoring”
This presentation evaluates the performance of two new low-cost condensation particle counters (CPCs) designed for outdoor ultrafine particle (UFP) monitoring. The researchers compare those against laboratory-grade CPCs using laboratory and real-world ambient aerosols. Results show both instruments achieve 10–15% accuracy with excellent linearity while enabling outdoor operation under a wide range of environmental conditions. The study highlights the potential of affordable CPCs to expand UFP monitoring in communities near major emission sources such as highways, airports, and industrial facilities.
